The Victoria Falls Marathon, Vic Falls town, Zimbabwe, 28th June, 2015 – Half (21.1km) Marathon completed in 2h 41m. Wasn’t so happy with my time but I know it’s because of the time I was not training as much and I gained a little weight. But I am happy I went and conquered and next year will do much better.
Started off fast as the adrenaline was still high. The route was lovely and I must say Vic Falls town in Zimbabwe is very scenic with a view of the falls over the bridge seperating Zambia and Zimbabwe and the Zambezi river which kept us company for the first 6 or so km’s.
Despite this you can enjoy looking at the many lodges and hotels with some beautiful architecture. The warthogs and baboons going about their day and a man riding an elephant takes focus away from the brutally brutal inclines, elephant droppings and the nice declines that make up this very long and quite challenging route. I had time to take a couple of selfies and partcipate in a chat with fellow runners about every bit of the run.
Was happy to get it over and done with and have my little Jeremiah screaming ‘mummy well done’ whilst he clapped for me as I approached and finally crossed the finish line.
All in all an amazing experience I shall certainly attemp again next year and definately break some records.
Thanks for the support 🙂
